This Council was formed late in 2006 to provide a venue to for credit unions risk management/security officers to share concerns, challenges, and ideas on ways enhance deterrents and reduce risk of losses to the credit union community, both internally and externally.

We want to expand our group and enhance the council network so we are asking the members of affiliated credit unions from the Greater Atlanta Chapter to participate in the scheduled meetings and activities.

Besides our regular meetings, the value to your credit union in joining the Risk Management Council is that you will be able to have access to a network of security officers through a listserv in which members communicate and share risk management related information and activities in a timely fashion. These include fraud, scams, robbery and other illicit criminal activities which impact the credit union marketplace. By doing so we can enhance deterrents and reduce risks to you and other credit unions in the Atlanta area.

The final benefit to participating in the council is that members have access to the Risk Management Council's Web site. The site provides members access to security and risk management related materials which are posted on the password protected site for information sharing purposes. This information will include printed documents, white papers, and other appropriate materials that are designed to enhance your security and risk management efforts.

Some of you receiving this message are already participating or have staff members who are participating in council activities and we appreciate that fact. For those of you who are not and you are interested in attending our upcoming meeting and becoming a member of the council please review the attached agenda and reply back to me by next Tuesday, April 10 of your intentions to attend. Please provide the names of the individuals who will be coming in to assist us in our preparation efforts.
